By Road to Enter Bhutan
For those entering by road, there are two main entrance points;
Phuntsholing, located at South West of Bhutan is a border town, adjoined to the Indian town of Jaigoan under West Bengal state. It is located 176 km south of Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. All most all Indian travelers use this entrance point to visit Bhutan. The nearest Indian airport to Phuntsholing is Bagdogra Airport and the nearest Indian railway stations are NJP junction, Siliguri, New Alipurduar Station and Hasimara Station.
Few of Indian travelers enter Bhutan via Samdrup Jongkhar also, the south eastern district of Bhutan which shares border with Daranga district of Assam state. The nearest Indian airport to Samdrup Jongkhar is Guwahati International Airport and the nearest Indian railway station is Rangiya Station.
By Air to Bhutan
Bhutan at present has only one international airport located at Paro (Western Bhutan) and two airlines: Drukair and Bhutan airlines. Drukair is operated by government and Bhutan airlines by a private.
